Can Lightning Strike the Same Place Twice?

Some years ago hurricane Katerina hit New Orleans. Still today many people didn't get the help they need or have been able to move back to their homes. At least there will be no more hurricane in New Orleans since lightning won't strik the same place twice. Or...? Check out the forcast for Gustav below, looks scary...

Today the Polar Prize 2008 was awarded to Renée Fleming and Pink Floyd. For me being a big Pink Floyd fan it was a rare treat to see Nick Mason and Roger Waters together. Roger left the band in 1985, leaving a big rift between him and David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright. Especially David and Roger has had big differences and probably Rick as well while Nick has been more neutral. Some years ago when Roger played live in London Nick joined in on drums for a couple of nights, playing "Set the controls for the heart of the sun". So it's really nice for an old Pink Floyd heart to see Roger together with another band member.

We were expecting our container to arrive in early August but after checking with our removal company it hasn't arrived yet. The shipping was delayed so it didn't arrive until Aug 22. *sigh*... Now the custom are dealing with it and that will take another 1-2 weeks.
The kids are already asking about the new place, but I'm not sure if they understand they will actually move house. And anyway we're moving only a few hundred meters so they will still continue going to the same kindergarten as before.
I hope I didn't forget anything in my planning of the move. Change address, forward mail, sign-up new insurance and electricity delivery, what else... tell my friends of my new address. So if you don't hear from me - let me know!
Now we need to get the old place sold but the market is going downhill right now and it's difficult to sell. But hopefully we will fix it in the end... :p

Men vad i ....?

Yesterday in the ongoing olympics in Beijing Jamaica won 100 meters for women. Not only did Shelly-Ann Fraser win in style in 10.78 sec, Jamaica took a tripple winning all three medals. This was just to much for the United States. The US team protested the results, asking that the race be reviewed because of a possible false start by American (!) Torri Edwards -- who wound up last. The appeal was swiftly rejected, and the biggest consequence was that the Jamaican women would have to wait until today to receive their medals at a postponed ceremony.
Sour grapes, said the fox.

Windows Vista (lack of) performance

Running Vista? Happy with the performance? Probably not unless you already chipped in loads of memory into your system. But now there is hope, go get the official Windows Vista Performance and Tuning document from Microsoft. I tried it myself and it does improve the system a lot, you should try it too!

You probably used Babelfish @ Altavista when wanting to translate some words, text or even full web pages between different languages. But despite all the choices, there is no Swedish-English or English-Swedish option. But now there is Tyda.se. This site can translate Swedish and English both ways so no need for bad excues any longer if you don't know how to spell words.

Anyone watching the Olympics? I do. Yesterday I saw the US basketball team sweeping the floor with Yao Ming and his friends. Among the attendence you could also find George W Bush with his Chinese hosts. It was a tight game in the beginning, the Chinese scored a couple of good 3-points shots but US went to an early lead by 11 to 9. At this point the producer showed George Bush watching and you could see his neghbour leaning over saying something to him. I'm sure he wispered something like "Mr President, it's 9/11 now".
